Do I need to provide my TFN for company registration?

Registering a company is an significant stage in your business’s life cycle. Company registration with LawPath, as an ASIC provider, requires the input of certain information in order to proceed with registration.

Of the information required, is a TFN needed?

TFN for Company Registration

In LawPath’s company registration process, providing a TFN is optional. Although it is recommended that the TFN of all or at least one of the directors is provided.

The Australian Tax Office (ATO) or Australian Securities and Investment Commission (ASIC) may use your Tax file Number (TFN) to validate the identity of a director(s).

You are not required to provide your TFN however if you do not provide it any ATO applications can take up to 28 days to process.
